The staff of the Old Catholic Seminary in Utrecht (NL) is delighted to announce the summer schools in Old Catholic theology that will take place in the summer of 2023! Celebrating its first decade, the classic course ‘Old Catholic Theology in its Ecumenical Context‘ will be taught again (1-7 July 2023). This course offers you an inspiring, week-long introduction to Old Catholic theology, history, and spirituality. Hundreds of participants have been enriched by this course in the course of the past decade and you can still become part of it!
As summer school team we are also very happy to announce that we will offer a complete new in-depth course: ‘Old Catholic Theology beyond the Basics: In search of being Church in Communion‘. The course will be taught in the second week of July (8-14 July 2023). This anniversary edition of the summer school in Old Catholic theology is inspired by the commemoration of the election of Cornelis Steenoven as Archbishop of Utrecht in 1723 (300 years ago in 2023). Although this led to a schism between the Church of Utrecht and the Church of Rome, it also inspired Dutch Catholics to embark upon an ongoing search for being church in a life-affirming manner. The course seeks to share the fruits of this journey.
Both courses can also be booked together as a track named ‘Old Catholic Theology: Communion as Calling and Challenge‘. Booking this combination leads to a reduction of the course fee of 50 euros. For more information you can click on the links to the course pages.
As summer school team we are really looking forward to coming summer and hope to welcome you in Utrecht! If you have any questions please send an e-mail to Rieneke Brand (rieneke.brand@okkn.nl).
